A Riverview Legacy Story – The Grant's

Lukas Grant – Chapter 1.6 – I Take Paris

We left our wedding reception for France that night.

The flight was uneventful and the scenery coming into the airport was spectacular.

Our trip started the usual way for honeymooners who just traveled 10 hours across several time zones. I carried Elaine into the honeymoon suite.

Then I ran her a bath while she unpacked. While she was getting changed, I lit a romantic fire and checked the champagne that had been left in the room by the concierge.

After that, well, we stayed in bed for a couple of days and ordered room service! Once our jet lag was past, we started our tours and sightseeing.

We started with a walk around the town center, had lunch and made inquiries with the locals about places of interest.

The next day we toured the museum. We loved the Chinese and Egyptian artworks displayed.

The day after that Elaine wanted to tour the The Nectery so I called the owners and planned a romantic dinner and tour with drinks at the end of the evening.

We found that adventure was everywhere we went and found a catastrophe about a week into our honeymoon. We had decided to tour the Lost Burial Ground and the tombs and catacombs under ground. Gustave Delven was our guide.

Half way through the tour, the guide got an emergency call and had to turn back. He said as long as we stayed on the marked tunnels and followed the map it was safe and would be able to make our way without any trouble and that he would call the hotel later to make sure we made it back ok.

We had made our way to the bottom level and had found quite a few relics and left behind treasure to collect. The labyrinth was even kind of romantic.

We were in a small alcove off the main labyrinth room when we felt a rumble and then another stronger quake which closed off our exit from the room we were in.

Suddenly there was an even stronger quake and the back wall collapsed. Elaine screamed. When I picked myself up and looked around I found Elaine buried under a pile of rubble.

I dug her out as fast as I could. When I got to her, I found only a faint pulse and she was loosing a lot of blood.  My worst nightmare was coming true.

I held her head in my hands and prayed she would make it.
